Panaji, the capital city of Goa lies on the left banks of the famous Mandovi River . The Panaji church on the main square, Goa's architecture, its latin quarter's lined with interesting buildings and the tiny pubs and bars give Panaji its distinct Portugese ambience. Panaji or Panjim literally means 'The Land That Never Gets Flooded'.
Goa has a glorious history of richly preserved temples, churches, forts and traditional homes. Goa's lush growth of coconut grooves, blue lagoons, sandy beaches and beautiful backwaters, make Goa the preferred destination.
Each year, in the month of February, on Fat Saturday, a colourful Carnival is organized with attractive floats, beginning with King Morno, who orders his subjects to forget their worries and have a good time. WELCOME TO GOA!
WEATHER
Panaji is humid and warm throughout the year, where the average annual temperatures are around 24C-33C with little variation in the summer and winter temperatures. Panaji receives heavy rains during the monsoon season from June to September. Statistics show that we have almost 60% dry days in the monsoon period. Goa is lush green in the monsoons, smells of the wet earth and just the place to lie back, relax or even drive around Goa. Goa is known to have country's best roadways.
